TOYOTA MIRAI 2: MADE FROM A WHITE SHEET
To develop its second generation Toyota Mirai, Toyota designers have made tabula rasa. It is from a blank sheet that they drew the new model. Exit lines too tortured to seduce, the Mirai imitates the softened design of other Toyota. But that doesn’t take away the aggressiveness of its facies, with a huge Lexus-style grille. The only point in common with the first version: an electric motor powered by fairy electricity, generated by a chemical reaction of hydrogen and air in a fuel cell. The platform is new: it is now the TGNA which, according to Toyota, gives more handling and responsiveness. No more pulling. The Toyota Mirai 2 is a propulsion system that gains 30% of autonomy (650 km of autonomy instead of 500 km previously). Relocated to the back, the electric motor is more powerful than the old one: it develops up to 300 Nm of torque and accumulates 182 hp of maximum power (134 kW). Its fuel cell is also a new generation. Inside, there are now 5 seats, compared to 4 in the first generation Mirai. INSIDE THE 2021 TOYOTA MIRAI
Imposing, the dashboard of the Toyota Mirai 2 is also well furnished. A 12.3 inch screen is available and the instrument cluster is 100% digital. The central armrest is very high tech and allows to control the air conditioning, the radio and the heated seats. In the seats, the driver and passenger are well wrapped. But roominess is not sufficient: if the Mirai 2 is approved for 5 people, the very imposing transmission tunnel makes the middle place difficult to use. Finally, the trunk is rickety despite the size of the car which has grown. As for the rear seats, they do not fold down.

DEMOCRATIZE HYDROGEN?
The Toyota Mirai 2 from Toyota’s fuel cell sedan brings a new lease of life to hydrogen, with a sober design, increased range and a much more affordable price than its predecessor. Toyota has not yet indicated the rates but is talking about a 20% drop.
